Trauma is an emotional response to an event like an accident, rape or natural disaster. There may affects like shock and denial. Long term reactions may include unpredictable emotions, strained relationships or physical ailments. The body holds trauma and our emotional and spiritual body become blocked by the traumatic event.

Yoga is a path towards unlocking the emotional and physical blocks created by trauma. The nervous system is called into action as we practice breathing and movement. Not only are we becoming stronger in body and unlocking areas in the body holding trauma, we are breathing mindfully to unlock the parasympathetic nervous system, the relaxation response.
I too have experienced trauma at a young age. The memory was unlocked in a yoga class. Once the flashback occurred, there was no turning back, I continued to face and heal it. Healing from a traumatic event can take years, yet with each step forward, the triggers lessen and one begins to rely on inner strength and courage.
As with any healing, the mantra remains "be gentle on yourself." Too often we are wired to believe "no pain, no gain" pushing through or ignoring our inner voice for calm and peace. I invite you into a session to experience calm and peace. Healing may take time, but knowing there is someone who is present and holding space for your recovery may be the gift you are seeking to heal on your life journey.
